Cheap eats are our guilty pleasure, and we know they’re probably yours too. It can be hard to find a good vegan feed in Sydney for under $10 so we’re here to help with our top five suggestions. We promise these ones won’t break the bank.
Allans’ Cake Hot Bread, Newtown – $6
When in need of a decent yet delicious feed, head to Allan’s Cake Hot Bread and order up one of their Banh Mi’s. You’ll get a crispy roll packed with thick-sliced vegan pork, salad, coriander, sauce, and some non-traditional tomato and beetroot. This feed will have you rollin’ into the weekend high on life. PS: Don’t forget the chilli.
Flyover Fritterie, CBD – $9.90
Fly on over to Flyover Fritterie for some cheap Indian-inspired street food that’s equally tasty and healthy. Each week they release a new fritter flavour and make them fresh daily. The fritters are bursting with bold flavours and are also served with a house-made chutney. Past hits have been their lemon za’atar cauliflower fritters and their sago potato and pumpkin. The perfect snack when you’re in the city.
Shanghai Night, Ashfield – $8.80
If you want to get some bang for your buck, then hit up Shanghai Night for the dumplings of your dreams. These steamed pockets of joy are filled with veggies and mushrooms and really are the best in town. How can something but so good and cheap?
The Hive Bar, Erskineville – $9
A good burger feed never has to break the bank, especially when you can get your hands on one of The Hive Bar’s epic Peagen Cheeseburgers. We’re talking a pea and edamame patty, vegan cheese, creamy chipotle, tomato chutney, lettuce, onion, and pickles all sandwiched between a vegan milk bun. These bad buns will have you flippin’ for more!
Funky Pies, Bondi – $6
A pie is always a good idea, especially when it’s from Funky Pies. These guys have so many funky pies and roll flavours that you’ll be spoilt for choice. The Butterish Chick’n Pie and Rustic Bolognaise are some of their top sellers and will have you drooling for seconds. Plus, you can get them for just over a fiver. Unreal!
